Friday Votes

I steadfastly stay away from politics on this forum, so the following is just a statement of fact. The US Senate had four votes on Friday during 2013 and no Friday votes during 2014. My conclusion is that they must need the Friday time to read and digest my Friday Thoughts.

Bloginalia 2011

As I promised last month, Bloginalia 2011 is now available on Amazon.

A full year of Friday Thoughts in one convenient place. If you forgot any of the tidbits from last year or just want to impress your friends, pick up a copy. This rounds out the trio of Bloginalia 2009 and 2010. Great for Kindle or iPad or Nook reading and they look great on a coffee table. Thanks.

SIRI

The new voice application for the iPhone that was just announced is very cool, but do you remember that Feb 26, 2010 Friday Thoughts, I told you it was coming. Wow, what a long gestation. Also, Android phones have had voice response for a long time.

Records

Feels more like Thanksgiving to me than Easter as I look at the numbers. As of a few weeks ago I had over 10,000 site visits to this Shubsthoughts blog, where my Friday Thoughts get posted. In webdom, that is not much, in fact some sites get that many visits a day, and some biggies, per hour.

Next week we pass another record as the total number of posts reaches 1,500. It makes me feel good that some of you think my musings are worth a look. As an aside, it also has been good for sales of my books. Thanks a lot! Hope I can continue to amuse, entertain, or at least provide a break from the daily tedium.

Happy Friday

You can't deny laughter; when it comes, it plops down in your favorite chair and stays as long as it wants.

I plan to plop down in my favorite chair, have a good belly laugh, and prepare to have a Happy Friday!

How to Make a Book

This YouTube shows the way books used to be made, all by hand and machines. We have come a long way from those days and modern machines spit books out one-at-a-time on demand. New printing presses act more like high speed copiers. There is no paper and no process from digital book to hard copy book. The video, in old news style, is nine minutes and takes you from typing a manuscript to a mechanically finished book. Interesting to watch.  You may remember from a previous Friday Thoughts why paper and pages are the size they are.

Friday Thought

The dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.

I dream and hope and plan to experience the reality of a Happy Friday!

Worthless

Flocci-nauci-nihili-pili-fication  is the act of describing something as worthless. Here it is used in a sentence. I loved her in spite of her floccinaucinihilipilification of money. At least one former reader of Friday Thoughts described it that way, but he was Floccinaucinihilipilificated.

How Many Emails

Did you know that everyday 247 billion emails are sent. By 2013 it will reach 507 billion emails sent every day. Gee, I hope my Friday Thoughts don't get lost in the pile.
